ISETEC II

ISETEC II was initiated with the purpose of analysing and developing innovative technologies for the German seaports and/or their upstate connections in order to address the long-term trend of a strong growing transport volume. These technologies are tested in demonstration phases and validated with regards to the objectives related to their development.

The support initiative continues the success of the ISETEC I programme, which was implemented between 1986 and 1996 in the context of the first wave of containerisation in the sea transport sector.

The Federal Ministry of Economy and Technologie (BMWi) considers the support of solution approaches in the seaport sector and their upstate connections as a key research topic for new transport technologies in the coming years. The present support initiative serves as a first step on this mission.

DAKOSY is involved in both ISETEC II projects BIT (Business Integration Truck) and LPM (Lean Port Management) as a leading project partner.

BIT - Business Integration Truck

The "BIT – Business Integration Truck" project addresses the targeted and efficient control of incoming and outgoing trucks at dock and packing companies in the North-German seaports of Hamburg, Bremen and Lübeck. The objective is to develop a communication network between trucks and dock/packing companies enabling the stakeholders to better plan their respective capacities. The BIT project serves to implement a cross-terminal and cross-seaport standardisation of procedures, information flows and interfaces under consideration of site-specific factors. A targeted and efficient control of the inflow and procedures per truck leads to reduced wait times, less traffic jams, a more balanced capacity utilisation of the terminals and consequently a higher process quality.

LPM - Lean Port Mangement

In the light of the growing cargo handling volumes during the recent years, the sea transport industry finds itself forced to minimize port lead times in particular in container traffic through efficiency-improvements. Shorter container storage periods in the port enable a more efficient use of existing resources.

In addition to technological and process-oriented measures it is mostly IuK technologies that contribute to this, with the exchange of information between all stakeholders of the transport chain (private and public) being of particular importance.
