DAKOSY supports Swiss Post Cargo with digital customs processing

DAKOSY press release (August 2026)

ZODIAK GE manages customs and e-commerce processing for Germany and Switzerland

The software company DAKOSY has added Swiss Post Cargo as a major client for its customs software. With its ZODIAK GE customs software, DAKOSY provides a centralized solution for handling Swiss Post Cargo’s import and export customs operations in Switzerland and Germany, including e-commerce processing. The software has been successfully implemented at eleven locations in Switzerland, five in Germany, and one location each in Austria and France.

In recent years, DAKOSY has steadily expanded its cross-border expertise in digital customs clearance to include Switzerland. Its ZODIAK GE software encompasses all customs procedures in Switzerland and Germany and is distinguished by its flexibility in system integration for automated end-to-end processes.

“We were impressed by the software service provider’s integrated and comprehensive strategy. From our perspective, key criteria include providing customs clearance for Germany and Switzerland on a single interface, combined with having the demonstrated ability to handle large volumes of data. The software is tailored to our needs, enabling the stable and high-speed automated processing of large volumes of shipments and the correspondingly large volumes of data,” explains Roland Iten, Head of Customs Clearance at Swiss Post Cargo.

Scalable, standardized interfaces were created to facilitate data exchange between the interconnected systems. Given the project’s large scope, both partners opted for a phased implementation of the customs software. This enabled a robust, low-risk transformation process that ensured a significant degree of planning stability for all parties involved.

The first step involved transferring customs clearance operations in Switzerland to the new provider. Subsequently, the e-commerce operations were migrated to ZODIAK GE. To facilitate this, DAKOSY also developed a customer-specific module for the pre-planning and consolidation of customs declarations, enabling nearly complete automation of customs clearance processes. As a result, turnaround times were significantly reduced and processes were further streamlined. Additionally, ZODIAK’s internal modules support the continued digitalization of customs clearance processes.

Phase two of the project involved the changeover of ATLAS to ZODIAK GE, which also marked the end of the migration phase. “We’re really pleased that we were able to complete a multi-stage digitalization project of such magnitude on schedule. This was made possible by the close and mutually trusting collaboration with Swiss Post Cargo, the continuous exchange of ideas, and the strong commitment of everyone involved,” emphasizes Simon Linder, authorized officer at DAKOSY.

Customs procedures at the Swiss borders are currently undergoing a comprehensive transformation. This is driven by the gradual replacement of the existing electronic customs system, e-dec, by the new Passar system. During the multi-year transitional period, DAKOSY will continue to support both systems running parallel to ensure seamless and forward-looking customs processing.
