Department: Java software developer with PCS (Vessels/Customs Team)
I like to start my workday with a glass of water with freshly-squeezed lemon juice, to boost my immune system
āIām passionate about being a full-stack developer. It's a great feeling to transform customer requests into code that can then be put into action.ā
Robert Waddell (34) grew up in the idyllic Black Forest region. After his high school graduation, he studied in Karlsruhe, where he earned his master's degree in industrial engineering. During his studies, he gained experience with Java through a work-study program at abas Software AG, an ERP manufacturer in Karlsruhe. He was also able to write his master's thesis on data science and subsequently start his first full-time job as a Java and C# developer. During the Covid pandemic, he switched to the energy sector, where he programmed software for modeling control systems. Since he worked exclusively from home and wanted to get to know the far north, he decided to move to Hamburg in 2023. The move went quickly and smoothly, as his sister lives in Hamburg and was able to help him find a temporary apartment.
Life in Hamburg suited him so well that he decided to stay for the long term. To help him settle in and make new contacts, he started looking for an employer that could offer him an interesting working environment and the option of flexible working arrangements, both at the office and from home. A recruiter brought DAKOSY to his attention. DAKOSY's wide range of topics, covering international logistics, ports, and airports, immediately caught his interest. The interview went well from both sides, and he quickly signed on to join DAKOSY's Vessels/Customs team as a full-stack developer.
Programming continues to fascinate him and is still one of his favorite activities. However, he also appreciates his other tasks, as they make his work more varied and challenging and give him insights into other specialized and technical areas. After four years of working exclusively from home, he now enjoys the direct personal interaction with his colleagues in the office. He also values the friendly atmosphere, the culture of feedback among equals, and the helpfulness and openness of his colleagues, all of which contribute to his sense of well-being at DAKOSY.
Sports and exercise play an important role in his free time. He enjoys climbing and bouldering, but also appreciates yoga and Pilates. This summer, he and his partner are looking forward to holiday rock-climbing in Andalusia and a music festival in Lower Saxony.sien und ein Musikfestival in Niedersachsen.
