Employee story

Tobias Bartsch

At DAKOSY since February, 2021

Department: Java App Developer for Freight Forwarding Applications

My workday begins with granola cereal and a hot coffee.

Tobias Bartsch (28) studied business informatics in Constance after his high school graduation, but after a few semesters he realized that although he enjoyed programming, much of the other course content was too theoretical. While he really liked the proximity to the Alps and Lake Constance, he returned to his home town of Hamburg and applied for a six-month internship at DAKOSY, where he trained as an IT specialist for application development in the freight forwarding applications department. He successfully completed this in only two years and has been working as a Java developer in the same department ever since.

He is still fascinated by programming. His tasks are multifaceted and challenging, and he learns something new every day.  His team discusses the upcoming tasks and tickets every day, and he can usually choose which ones he wants to work on next. The only thing he doesn't like so much is that he spends most of his time at his desk or in front of a screen. Exercise provides him with the perfect balance. In his free time, he enjoys running, swimming, climbing and going to the gym regularly. He really likes that he can visit the nearby gym during his lunch break when he works at the office. Afterwards, he always feels refreshed and ready to get back to work with full concentration.

What he particularly appreciates about DAKOSY is the good communication with his team and other colleagues, the opportunity to take advantage of flexible working hours and the professional development opportunities. He also values the company's additional benefits, such as the EGYMWellpass sports program. Outside work, he is looking forward to his next action-packed vacation this summer, when he and his girlfriend will be driving their camper van to go climbing in Switzerland and then continue on to Provence in the south of France.
