From seaport to airport
A wide range of applications for IMPALA
The IMPALA authentication app from DAKOSY is establishing itself at Frankfurt Airport. It allows truckers to identify themselves to handling agents when picking up import air cargo shipments. The tool is operated by allivate, a joint venture between DAKOSY and Fraport.
It’s all made possible by integrating authentication directly into the Smart Pick-up (SPU) digital pick-up process developed by the FAIR@Link Cargo Community System. This link establishes a direct relationship between the driver's identity and the transport order. As a result, the trucker can be clearly identified and it can be determined at the same time whether the driver is authorized to pick up the shipment.
IMPALA is currently in pilot operation at the airport. Nearly 40 truck drivers from the DB Schenker logistics company are already using the app on their smartphones. They use it to do a paperless check-in with the handling agent LUG Aircargo Handling. Drivers identify themselves uniquely with their QR code. Their identity and authorization to pick up cargo are verified within seconds. “Compared to the conventional registration process, check-in with IMPALA is over 50 percent faster. It also minimizes the risk of errors, forgeries, or misuse,” reports allivate Managing Director Dirk Gladiator.
IMPALA has been proving its worth in the Port of Hamburg since mid-2023. There, the app ensures authorized access to the port area for a variety of companies and authorities. For Gladiator, the leap from seaport to airport demonstrates IMPALA's broad range of applications. He sees its ability to integrate with other systems as another plus point. “Anywhere that access restrictions to a site are an issue, IMPALA offers added value. This is because it can be easily integrated into both in-house solutions for companies and cargo community systems.”
