DAKOSY 40 years ago

from the press archive

In 1982, DAKOSY was Hamburg's first start-up for digitalization. At the time, the "garage feeling" ruled the day. The idea of making the port faster through virtual networking was breaking new ground. Also in terms of language! Terms such as digitalization, EDI or IT platforms were not yet used in reports about the new company on the market. Instead, people talked about remote data transmission or computer-to-computer links.

DAKOSY quickly developed into the central exchange point for information in the Port of Hamburg. A look at the archive shows what the newspapers Bild, Welt and DVZ wrote on the occasion of the new company's launch.

The Bild newspaper ran the headline: “In the port, Miss ‘Dakosy’ will soon be the girl for everything; a supercomputer will make telephone calls and type shipping documents within seconds.”

In an article titled "Computer sends general cargo on the road," Die Welt newspaper encapsulated the business idea: “Using a central computer, it is planned to facilitate the transfer and exchange of data between all the companies involved in the handling and transport of goods.”

We were also featured in the newspaper DVZ. There it was stated: "At the trade fair Transport 82 ... The Port of Hamburg will present a child of computer technology  - Dakosy - the port's data communication system.”

All DAKOSY solutions are operated through two data centers in Germany. The data centers designed for rendundant services ensure constant access to all systems.
