Solving media discontinuity with AI
An interview with natif.ai, DAKOSY's digitalization partner
Three questions for Manuel Zapp, co-founder and CEO of natif.ai, DAKOSY’s partner in digitalization.
Why is logistics a particularly exciting industry regarding the automation of documents?
In a world of globalization, logistics undoubtedly ranks among the key sectors experiencing continuous growth. Due to the numerous players involved along the transport chain, this industry is especially vulnerable to discontinuities in media flow. In logistics, it’s common practice for paper documents to pass through many hands, often acquiring an array of stamps and notes along the way. This presents a significant challenge in reading and processing. With natif.ai's digital solution, interpretation is taken over by an innovative AI system capable of recognizing and understanding the various stamps, handwritten notes, and printed text. The key to this lies in deep learning.
How does natif.ai automate the Export Accompanying Document?
The foundation for digitalizing Export Accompanying Documents is our "Large Document Model." This AI model was developed to understand documents in a way that resembles human perception. Similar to the human brain, this AI system employs multiple methods to recognize the essential elements within the document. This includes text analysis, layout interpretation, and discernment of visual elements. This model was trained using a massive dataset comprising millions of documents from various industries. It learned document structures, including the intricate nuances of table organization and the hierarchical relationships between different pieces of information dictated by the document's layout. Throughout our project, we refined the model to focus specifically on the information relevant to Export Accompanying Documents. This process is called fine-tuning.
What makes the project special for you?
The project demonstrates AI’s enormous potential for standardizing and optimizing document processing in logistics. Working closely with partners like DAKOSY, we are driving this transformation forward, making a significant contribution to the digitalization of logistics processes.
