SANTANA successfully completed
New platform for digital port services “Marketplace.Hamburg”
On November 11, 2024, the gala closing event of the SANTANA project took place on the premises of the Hamburg Port Authority. The new marketplace for digital services, “Marketplace.Hamburg,” was presented at the event.
About the SANTANA project
SANTANA is an acronym for Service and Data Network Port of Hamburg. The Hamburg Port Authority AöR and DAKOSY Datenkommunikationssystem AG developed SANTANA together as partners and received support from the associated partners Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), the HHLA subsidiary Hamburg Vessel Coordination Center (HVCC) and EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg GmbH. The project was also supported by the Ministry of Economics and Innovation (BWI).
The aim of the “SANTANA” project was to create a digital test field in the Port of Hamburg which focuses on linking the existing digital networks of public transport and infrastructure management with those of private sector logistics to create a network of networks.
The project period ended on 30.09.2024 after 2 years 9 months. The project budget amounted to approximately €15 million. Of this, 80% was funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) as part of the DigiTest funding program.
Nearly three years ago, the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) and DAKOSY Datenkommunikationssystem AG, together with partners Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), Eurogate and the Hamburg Vessel Coordination Center (HVCC), launched a pioneering project to further develop the digital port. They received political support from the Ministry of Economics and Innovation (BWI) of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. The project was funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV).
Within the scope of the project, the port's digital infrastructure and architecture - particularly in the area of infrastructure and traffic management - were comprehensively modernized. Additionally, new opportunities were created to make networking with the logistics sector easier and more efficient. The aim of the project was to establish a “network of networks” as a digital testing ground. Thanks to the project and modern digital services, the resilience of the supply chain has been significantly increased.
Port customers can now search for and find relevant digital port logistics services such as online port dues declarations, information on berth occupancy for barges, the ship declarant portal eDeclaration, slot booking via Truckgate and much more via the “Marketplace.Hamburg” platform. The platform currently includes the services of the network and associated partners, including HPA, DAKOSY and HVCC. The inclusion of digital services from other providers is planned.
Dr. Phanthian Zuesongdham, Program manager of SANTANA at HPA
“With the ‘Port of Hamburg Marketplace,’ we want to increase service orientation in the Port of Hamburg. The marketplace should help to ensure that the port remains attractive for its customers. The conditions for data collaboration in the Port of Hamburg have thus been established.”
Evelyn Eggers, Program manager of SANTANA at DAKOSY
“For more than 40 years, the logistics sector at the Port of Hamburg has shown that digitalization is indeed possible and necessary. Reinforcing existing networks such as DAKOSY's, linking them with the services of the infrastructure and transport sector and making this transparent for everyone involved in the supply chain sounds like squaring the circle. It is and remains an inspiring task.”
In cooperation with Port of Hamburg Marketing (HHM), the marketplace is presented as a new service in the port community. It can be accessed at www.marketplace.hamburg.
